Here are 5 Pro Beauty Tips For Transitioning Skin Into Fall that are going to help you combat skin issues that the cold weather brings, and how to maintain it.
1. SCHEDULE A FACIAL TREATMENT
Due to the fact that our skin gets more aggravated during the changing of the seasons, it’s important to see a skin care specialist to detox, exfoliate and clean out any gunk that’s been living in our skin. Getting a facial treatment can also help with product penetration to ensure your skin is absorbing all the nutrients from products, which will help you see results more quickly!
“What Type of Facial Should I Get?”
This is a question I tend to get a lot as an esthetician in Denver, but the answer is never uniform as everyone’s skin is different. For a post-summer facial, I recommend either a derma-plane or a microdermabrasion facial to remove any dead skin at the surface for instant results. For more information, schedule a consultation with one of our VERT estheticians to see which type of facial would be right for you and your skin.
Exfoliating is something that we should be doing year-round, and it is especially important after the summer has settled, and as the drier weather creeps in. My favorite type of exfoliation is enzyme exfoliation. It has all of the benefits of a “scrub,” which just means manual exfoliation, but it is also able to awaken dull skin, improve skin tone, and promote healthy blood flow. Personally, I use enzyme masks to exfoliate about 2-3 times weekly.
Here are some of my current favorite enzyme masks:
Key enzymes in this mask:
- White Willow Bark: contains natural salicylic acid that sloughs off dead skin cells. It is also a potent anti-inflammatory, which calms and brightens skin tone.
- Papaya enzymes: enzymes gently loosen and dissolve dull skin cells and impurities to reveal fresh, vibrant skin.
Key enzymes in this mask:
- Lemon bio ferment enzyme: dissolves dead skin, leaving skin smoother
- Potato flour: contains enzyme catecholase for skin lightening properties
3. INCREASE VITAMIN C AND VITAMIN A
Have you spent a lot of time in the sun this summer? Maybe a little more than you should have? The power duo of Vitamin A and Vitamin C is my secret to glowing skin in Colorado and combating the damage from the summer sun.
Why vitamin C?
Vitamin C is packed with antioxidants, which fight free radicals that cause aging. In addition, they give your skin an extra boost of protection from the sun, help lighten and brighten, and encourage beautiful, healthy skin.

Why Vitamin A?
Vitamin A is known for its powerful cell turnover power, which is why it is commonly used for those suffering from acne or are worried about aging. We most commonly see Vitamin A in prescription creams like Retin-A, which can be extremely harsh on the skin and even cause the skin to thin. However, we have some good news! Many natural and organic lines have found natural derivatives of Vitamin A that will give you the results you want without compromising the integrity of your skin.

4. DON’T SKIP THE SPF
People constantly ask me how to slow down the aging process of their skin, and I am here to tell you that the easiest and most important way is to wear sunscreen every single day. Just because summer is over does not mean that SPF is no longer necessary. I tend to burn more snowboarding than I do laying by the beach (anyone else?). Continue to protect your skin from the skin-damaging UV rays that are here to stay. ALL. YEAR. LONG.
UV-A rays are the main culprit for causing skin aging, and they are able to penetrate through clouds, so there’s no hiding from them. Keep your skin safe and don’t forget your SPF!
5. HYDRATE, HYDRATE, HYDRATE!
Last but definitely not least, hydration is a key element to lasting skin health. Fall is fleeting, and soon winter will be here, robbing us of all our skin’s moisture. If you are living in a dry climate like Denver, you especially know what I mean. Obviously using a good cream, oil or moisturizer is important to achieve soft skin, but here are some products that are just too good to be true, I’m still pinching myself!
Josh Rosebrook Hydrating Accelerator – This spray is the best way I’ve found to stay hydrated throughout the day. This vitamin-infused aloe water lowers skin surface tension which enhances the delivery of hydration, antioxidants, and nutrients into the skin. The cells, which are filled with the aloe water, then help to plump and firm the skin. It’s great for all skin types. Especially sensitive or irritated skin.
Josh Rosebrook Advanced Hydration Mask – This mask has single-handedly rescued my skin and turned it from desperately dry to lush, moisturized, and glowing! Being extremely acne-prone, I never thought a thick, balmy mask like this would work for me. But in my desperation for soft skin, I decided to try it and haven’t looked back since. This advanced formula hydration mask allows removal of the mask without water rinsing, which helps slow moisture loss and assists in maximum cellular hydration retention. It’s unlike most masks where your skin almost immediately feels dehydrated right after you rinse it off.
Pro tip: If you need next-level hydration, I recommend first spraying the hydration accelerator, apply the mask, and leave on overnight for glowing skin. Try it now and thank me later!
